Asking for Backwards Blogging

Today, you are going to write the blog.

Sorry.. I probably sound pretty demanding.. but I just had this coolest idea ever. A Backwards Blog.

I’d like you guys to start up a super engaging conversation. Share your wisdom.

Topic?

Most of us understand that prayer/mediation is such a teeny tiny aspect of getting what we want…

but what is meant in the Bible, and in “The Secret” when they say,

“Ask and it shall be given unto you?”

Isn’t that a paradox?

To the person with the most convincing response (not the most accurate… rather, the one that’s defended best) will have their response as the topic for the next blog post. (with citation to their blog, of course)

What is meant by,

“Ask and it shall be given unto you?”

My Story

Back in October, I met Scott Manesis. Many of my first videos were inspired by him (whether he knew it or not). As the months wore on, we talked periodically, but last week, he partnered up with me in the Tribe Syndication Association.

We’ve had a couple of great talks in the last five days – and it’s been transformational for me. Isn’t that how it goes sometimes, you go to help someone learn something new, and you’re the one who learns the new stuff. :)

He taught me some very important things about goals and the importance of sharing a story. Since that is my passion.. and goals have been a focus in the last few posts, I wanted to share some of it with you today.

1. Tell Your Story. Make sure people know where it is that you’ve come from. Chances are, the story is a lot like mine… it wasn’t all roses. I used to think the saying “Let your mess become your message” was just about persevering. It’s a lot more than that. What you have gone through can minister to someone else’s needs like no self-help program can. It’s your responsibility as a leader to do be inspiring and encouraging. Your Story does it best!

2. Each step you take toward your goal is a victory. I’ve got an incredible vision. My goals are massive. I’ve made the mistake of thinking, “I got a long way to go” and I put my head down and ignore those little victories – and I miss out on this third point:

3. Celebrate! You’ve GOT to celebrate your goals. Imagine if I would’ve hustled my way to the top, but regarded all those little victories moot. The journey wouldn’t be nearly so enjoyable. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve taken time to celebrate, but it’s been just letting my wife know what’s up, so she’ll understand why I have to work late again tonight. Please avoid this mistake. You NEED to enjoy the journey with whoever will listen.

In light of all this, today – for the first time, I’m going to share with you my story. I’m going to give you a message, and you’re going to understand it when you see the mess I was in and what I did to get out of it.

As always,

Carpe Fidem
